Durarara!! Season 2 (10th Anniversary) - News and Speculations

Durarara!! getting a new anime:

Main cast reuniting at Brains Base, it seems. I would have preferred a Baccano! sequel and I hope this is more like the first cour than the second, but it's still nice to see.

Durarara

At long last:

Quote:

The cast and staff of the Durarara!! anime franchise announced at Dengeki Game Festival 2014 on Sunday that a new Durarara!! television anime series is in the works.
EDIT: (Ninjaed by one minute!)

From what I've read of the novels, the new season may have the most absurdly oversized cast ever. I think there'll be at least a dozen major new characters on top of the ones from the first season.

Now apparently word filtering out that production is by "Shuka", not Brains Base - except I've never heard of Shuka.

well, neither have I

but that doesn't surprise me if they decided to change the studio

since Brain Base tends to not love sequel for series other than natsume :D

BW95 2014-03-15 22:09

Really? After all this time?

Ravenblitz 2014-03-15 22:11

Whoooo nice it made my day!

Izaya & Shizuo antics again

ANN's updated their article with that news, but they say it's still the same staff and cast with Omori directing. As long as Ono and Kamiya are back, that's what counts.

Unless you're a fan of Brains Base (I am) and this is evidence that Omori is severing his ties and taking a good deal of their best talent with him. No hard evidence of that yet but it'd be a real shame.

Izayaaaaaa!!!!

Renchan 2014-03-15 22:40

I wonder how much they'll cover this time?
The 4th book is somewhat stand-alone atc, but I don't remember if there's any good stopping point beyond that.

White Manju Bun 2014-03-15 22:41

Excited for this, more Izaya, Celty and Shinra is always a good thing.

Xagzan 2014-03-15 22:42

I just wish Aniplex would stop dicking around and release a reasonably priced box set for the first season.

The only options for purchase here are still just the $200 lunchbox set or the 3 volumes that run like, $45 each. Outrageous.

Maybe if this season gets dubbed it'll have that effect...

DorkingtonPugsly 2014-03-15 22:44

Ahh finally, was waiting for this. Can't wait XD

Rosalena 2014-03-15 22:48

I didn't think I would like Durarara at first, but I eventually grew to love it. So this is exciting news!

kyouray 2014-03-15 22:56

Great news. I now can't help myself looping OP songs :p
Aniplex youtube channel is broadcasting an announcement on the official site but it doesn't reveal more info excepted this sentence "They are same as 6 months ago".

Houreki 2014-03-15 23:05

wow this clearly made my day, can't wait :heh:

ultimate_noob 2014-03-15 23:05

Yay. Hope the anime will catch up on the novels and the sequel spinoff. It will probably air this summer.

Shouldn't this thread be moved to the Drrrr subforum?? Studio SHUKA? New studio perhaps?

Didn't one of the OVAs (the one with Celty and Kadota's crew being chased through the city) cover a large part of the fourth book?

Renchan 2014-03-15 23:17

There's another OVA beside ep 12,5 and 25? Those two are anime original episode.

DorkingtonPugsly 2014-03-15 23:23

They covered 3 volumes in the last season and I'm guessing they'll do the same.
