Definitely loved that moment, everyone just laughed as Banagher looks at the portrait. :heh:

alright... gotta be honest, i was not impressed at all. this was VERY average in my opinion.

Spoiler for meh:

i am SO disappointed! the fight scenes were pretty awesome but thats about it.
this was essentially mecha porn. northing more and nothing less. if you like big fights between grunt suits you will love this but if you love the story behind gundam unicorn then this episode is essentially really just filler.

well, ok... to be fair, there was one awesome scene with banhager:

Spoiler for holy crap, what WAS that?!:

but that also raises a new problem for me, everyone was SO very different compared to the previous episodes!

Znozzy 2011-11-12 15:49

The episode was very compressed, felt like some things was rushed way too much.

Spoiler for for episode 4:

the Byaland kai/custom is just a monster:

Question, have you never watched Zeta Gundam, ZZ Gundam or Char's Counterattack cause yes indeed a Psycoframe or Biosensor can generate an aura around a mobile suit as can an I-Field barrier and it's happened before quite a few times actually. This is pretty common U.C technology by this point actually.

i actually havent seen that before^^ but that was just a minor problem that i had with this episode, so if this was actually introduced in previous gundam shows than i will gladly take that back XD it still feels kinda DBZ-ish to me though... i know about the i-flied barriers but this was just a little odd since both spheres actually pushed against each other.

I assume "DBZ-ish" is supposed to be a criticism of some kind? I don't know, I kind of happened to enjoy DBZ and in this particular case it's actually been quite established and documented in UC related guides and whatnot, you can read about it here and here a bit.

In any case thanks for owning up to not really knowing much about this piece of tech or having seen previous series and allowing me to explain a little bit instead of trying to argue over it like people have a habit of doing some times. You'd be surprised but that doesn't happen much more.

i like DBZ a LOT but for me gundam is all about being a lot more realistic^^ and while i know about newtypes, psychoframe technology and minovsky physics, this particular scene still struck me as not all that realistic, it was just pusing it a little in my opinion. but at least they do have a foundation for it so im cool with it now.

and i dont have a problem with admitting not to know about a certain fact. i simply didnt have the time to watch Z and ZZ yet :P and when it comes to knowledge about the gundam franchise it is VERY hard to know everything, anyway^^

edit:

Spoiler for ep4:

Spoiler for ep4:

It's "real" within a science fiction/futuristic type of setting actually. Gundam has always been about as realistic as a Star Trek series so I still don't know where people got this idea of it being this hardcore ultra realistic show when it's clearly always been a sci-fi series that's real in that it has established documentation as to how it's fictional technology is supposed to work with actual scientific theory being applied, again kind of like Star Trek. You can read about UC Gundam's "realism" on that Minovsky Physics page I linked.

Real Robot doesn't actually mean what many people seem to think it means nowadays. The term is about as far from it's original definition now thanks to the internet as "slice of life" is.

You have to thank the Byalant Custom for this scene. No, I am not kidding.
Its appearance distractes Zinnerman who domintates Banagher up to this point and gives Banagher the power to kick and defeat the commanding Zeke. ;)

I personally loved this episode. It was cool seeing the older generation Zeon mobile suits and how they were seem to use any available weapon they had such as a Dom using a Zaku's heat axe or very old school mobile suits in general. The attack on the base near the end was well done. The Zeon Remnants were owning them until the Byalant came out to mop up the enemy. I really wonder who is the pilot because he/she did an outstanding job. I felt pretty sad when Kirks and Loni died and how the Zeon Remnants were hopeless in trying to stop the Byalant. I'm guessing that all the Zeon Remnants are now gone for good? They seemed to mass up around the globe for this attack. I wonder how the Sleeves will do now...

EDIT
Does anyone know any background on the crashed Pegasus class ship that the Zeon Remnants used as their base?

I am talking more about the history of the ship than its name. The history such as has the ship been in any series besides 0080 and how it was shot down. Unless it's just there for fan service.

being lazy, copy+pasting from wikia.

During the One Year War the Earth Federation made several refits ships of the Pegasus-class line during and after the war to keep making upgrades and new features to the ships of the line. One of them is the Gray Phantom (LMSD-76) equipped with a Minovsky craft system which enable ships in this class to enter and exit the Earth's atmosphere. The craft system allows for these assault carriers to float by creating a barrier between the carrier and the ground. The Gray Phantom was assigned to Scarlet Team. In December 19, UC 0079, the Gray Phantom was dispatched into the 6 Libot colony to take down Zeon's Cyclops Team member Mikhail Kaminsky from attacking the interior of the neutral Side. Mikhail piloting MS-18E Kämpfer destroys the Scarlet Team mobile suits then he was brought down by Christina MacKenzie piloting RX-78NT-1 Gundam "Alex".

Nearly 20 years after the One Year War, the Grey Phantom's wreckage was found on Earth and used as a base for Zeon remnants.

I loved that Zaku sniper, out of all the cool suits that popped up during this battle that was definitely my favorite. Gotta love how its sniper rifle works like an MG42, which has to have its barrel changed after continuous firing because of how hot it gets. It's even changed the same way too! That's another nod to Zeon being loosely based off Nazi Germany.

Yeah, Kirks was a cool character, but I was sad when he died though. I wished the Jestas would have just let him killed himself.
