Sword Art Online Anime - Favorite Character(s) Poll
 

Just before I create the poll, here are the characters I was thinking of including. Am I missing anyone?

- Kazuto Kirigaya (Kirito)
- Asuna Yuuki (Asuna)
- Agil
- Klein
- Sachi
- Silica
- Lisbeth
- Kuradeel
- Yui
- Akihito Kayaba (Heathcliff)
- Suguha Kirigaya (Leafa)
- Shinichi Nagata (Recon)
- Nobuyuki Sugou (Obeiron)


There are some other characters that I can think of, like Rosalia, Yolko, Schmit, Sasha, Yulier, Nishida, and some others like that... but I think they're probably a bit too minor to put on a poll (as people would have to be reminded who they are for the most part).

By the way, I do realize that some of the other avatars do have real-life names that have been revealed in the novels (and Lisbeth was referred to once by her real name, Rika), but again, I think that won't really help people in the anime poll.

Also, would anyone have time to make little icons/avatars for all these characters? If not it's okay; we can start the poll without pictures.

Anyway, once we've settled on the list, I'll make the poll. Sorry for not remembering to do this sooner.

I would include Argo... Yes a "side-character" but she's pretty cool in her own right :O
Maybe even include characters from GOA and Alicization arcs?

The poll seems based for the anime, by his reasoning, so future novel characters probably won't be added, especially due to spoilers and such. The list as it stands should be fine, but even if the "real names" won't help the anime viewers, relentlessflame, they should be added anyway if you're going to add their screen names right next to them when applicable. It's one way to help people learn them, if nothing else.

Yup, that's right -- I added "Anime" to the title.

Well, if the names haven't been revealed in the anime yet, I think it's a bit of a spoiler to use it. When the names become important in the anime, I assume they will re-introduce us. The only exception I can think of is "Rika" which was let slip by Silica... but I think that's the only one.

Though Sachi is a bit relevant to Kirito's growth, she only appeared in one episode. Is that enough for her to be included?
Also, can I hear the reason why Kuradeel is included in there? It's just weird to line him up with the others.
And it's Akihiko, not Akito.

As the Favourite character for me is someone that takes the breath away at the peak of action, it would have to be Kirito.

Yeah, he is a main character all right, but he is epic.
Even if he would not be the main character, I would pick him.

Great plan, none.
Great win, always, with amazing style and plan made up in the last moment.

In all honesty this poll will be useless here since there were only 3 relevant and developed characters aka Kirito, Asuna and Suguha.

Everyone else were none existent and could be easily replaced with one faced CG characters like in Berserk movies =/

It's not even a competition. Kirito will dominate the poll with Asuna close behind and Suguha taking 3rd place.

I'd honestly hesitate to put Kuradeel in that poll since he really only shows up for the sake of being a plot device. Sachi does have a rather considerable fanbase though so she's probably worth throwing onto the poll.

Asuna... It would be weird if I choose Kirito.... I'm a fan of anime girls and not my fellow men....

I voted for a good portion of the people on that list. Kirito, Klein, Agil, Kayaba, Asuna, Yui, Silica, Lizbeth, Suguha...

No surprise Silica's the most popular thus far. Lizbeth doesn't seem to be fan favorite internet-wide from what I can tell, though, she gets so few imagery in comparison to the other ladies. While I like Suguha's character, I hate her real-world design. Just... not a fan of it, I'd take Leafa over it, and I generally don't care for blond-haired female characters in anime and games.

My favorites are

Kazuto Kirigaya (Kirito) : He is too cool and too awesome, don't need to explain much
Asuna Yuuki (Asuna) : very beautiful and can actually fight and not weak as a female lead, (although the second arc will say the opposite)
Akihito Kayaba (Heathcliff):because he is a villan who is driven by his dream and not by typical negative guy things , and i like his dream of a metal castle floating in the sky

Voted for damn near everybody, but if I had to choose it would be Kayaba.

While I tried to be selective with my favorites, I felt that nearly all of the characters in the series was excellent. It was a joy to see them on screen, and I can't say that I felt any more or less excited over one character versus another. Suguha may be an exception, but I suspect that's partly because she's newly introduced into the series a bit over midway through.

What I'd be really curious to know is the opinion behind people who voted for Nobuyuki Sugou (Obeiron). Based on his actions "offline" I thought he'd make a great villain, but he descended into madness really quickly. In my mind he seemingly became a single-minded, stereotypical villain at that point. What are the redeeming factors about his character? (To clarify, this is not a point of argument; I am probably not seeing the more enjoyable, perhaps intricate aspects of his character, and would be interested to hear a different take on him.)
