Ichiban Ushiro no Dai Maou

Quote:

The wraparound jacket band on the seventh volume of Shōtarō Mizuki's Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaō magical fantasy romance novel series has announced that an anime adaptation is in the works. The story of "love, magic, and battles" revolves around Akuto Sai, a boy who aims to become part of his country's highest order of magicians and contribute to society as one of its clergy. On the day he is admitted into the Constan Magical Academy, his aptitude test predicts the following: "Future Occupation … Devil King." Thus begins his difficult school life in which he is resented by his studious female class head, desired by a girl with mysterious powers, and guarded by a beautiful female android.

The last time demons, magic schools and light novels came together for a show I watched was Macademi. While this is obviously of a slightly different caliber, I won't object to more combinations of those factors.

I've been kinda waiting for this announcement, so I'm not really that surprised :P.

in addition to the novel and the manga, there was also a Drama CD. if I recall correctly, the seiyuus cast were: Ono Daisuke (as the main character), Nakahara Mai (red-haired girl), Shiraishi Ryoko and Chihara Minori---can't remember the others. hopefully they keep the same cast, since they were pretty funny, especially Chihara Minori, who was doing her Nagato voice once again. :heh:

the story seem Interesting to me after seeing the word "Devil King" :heh:
I'll put it in my list :D

This is the first shounen(boy's) light novel series from the shounen light novel label HJ Bunko to get an anime adaptation.

There are many more great shounen light novels from this shounen label. Hopefully we'll see more light novels from this label follow this and get an anime adaptation.

Finally, a new anime to look forward to in the new season. Its really been lacking the romance/comedy/harem genre lately in the anime field... :upset:

PNGO 2009-09-01 22:27

Is this coming out this year?

Midonin 2009-09-01 22:33

The website's still in preliminary form and the Fall '09 season is pretty much set in stone. This won't be airing until sometime in 2010, I'd wager.

global warming is over-rated. There is no such thing! the past 2-3 years have had the longest winters for decades... with that said, hopefully they will show it early knowing that info now =D

According to Moonphase, the show will land this spring. Also, the anime cast list is announced, and it looks different from the Drama CD. Nothing wrong with that, of course.

Though this does make the third show in a row with Aki Toyosaki and Yoko Hikasa playing fairly major roles opposite each other.

Manga's decent. By that standard though, the novel is ABSOLUTELY FREAKING AMAZING. No way in hell I'm watching this if the anime follows the manga.

In the manga, the sequence, and thus the character personalities, and power level are completely out of whack because of how they presented and twisted some of the events. To be honest, I am completely pissed off at how they handled the manga.

I really really really really hope they follow the sequence like the novel. Akuto's personality is a typical shounen manga type male lead, whereas his novel counterpart is a cool, composed and pretty overpowered badass.

hinakatbklyn 2009-11-27 18:51

OK. Read the manga (original without translations). Using just the visuals of the first volume, looks like my type of series (and the manga is average compared to the novel?) Even if the novel is better, it's alot tougher to personally visualize a novel rather than have the visuals right in front of me (picture is worth a thousand words I guess). Of course in order of more room to work with in terms of story it's novel, manga and anime (budget wise).
