Nice to see a new issue of the classic VF-01 for 2020.
Here is an interview with Shoji Kawamori on his VF-01 design.

This doesn't belong in this thread, but I can't find another open one (all the Macross Frontier Movie threads are locked), so maybe a moderator can move it...

BUT

BOTH Macross Frontier Movies are coming to the US this summer!!

THat's a bit nonspecific. To theaters? To Blu-ray? To streaming?

John117xCortana 2022-04-05 08:05

I heard it's theaters for both of them.

magnuskn 2022-04-06 14:32

Well, better late than never. I can only hope that this will mean we'll finally get an English subbed DVD/BD release for the TV series.

isamu99 2022-04-06 15:00

still waiting on them to resolve whatever legal issues remain to get them to release SDFM TV and DYRL.

CrowKenobi 2022-07-01 18:16

The dam has finally burst!!

Macross Plus, Macross II Anime Offered Overseas on Blu-ray Disc

Macross Frontier, Macross Delta Anime Offered on Home Video Outside Japan

magnuskn 2022-07-01 18:34

Bloody finally.

Time to get an external BD player for my PC, I guess. I do hope they release Frontier with my region code as well, since I think you can't change the region code as easily with BD players as with DVD players.

Kamijou Touma IB 2022-07-01 19:43

I am onboard. I will definitely get Frontier. I will get Delta only if I can get it cheap.

CrowKenobi 2022-07-02 22:07

What in the Sam Hill is going on??

Right Stuf, Nozomi Ent. to Release Macross 7 on Home Video in N. America for 1st Time

Yu Ominae 2022-07-02 22:49

Looks like RS/NE are pumping them out now that the overseas licensing is not that complicated anymore.

isamu99 2022-07-03 04:40

I get the feeling HG may start playing nice, and will strike some sort of collaborative deal with BW to bring SDFM and DYRL to Bluray in the west.

HirouKeimou 2022-07-03 10:35

The fact there's no release date hopefully means maybe an English dub will also happen. There's so little news regarding how the releases will pan out right now.

Although, I'm curious about Plus, since it did get an official release with a full English dub back in the day, I wonder if they'll slap the old dub on the Blu-ray.

stray 2022-07-03 11:47

Finally we get Macross 7 in all its glory.

I wonder how much the series will cost and if they'll be available to stream anywhere eventually.

Neki Ecko 2022-07-03 18:32

Now the next thing they need to do is to Dub them and my life would be complete.

BetoJR 2022-07-04 08:21

Them dubbing Basara? Who can live up to Canna & Fukuyama's screaming voice? Goku's VA?

Ragashingo 2022-07-04 15:15

For Sheryl, Amanda Lee could do it. In addition to covers of many, many anime OPs, she has some great covers of Sheryl songs like "What 'Bout My Star", "Aimo", and "Do You Remember Love" and in more recent years she's become an actual English VA having just stared as Marin in My Dress-up Darling.

But yeah, English dubs are a dream beyond a wild dream.

Has there been any news on the Macross Frontier TV western release on DVD or BD? So far as I can see, the only thing available are cheap bootlegs on Amazon.

Nozomi was the one who licensed it but their fate was kind of left in limbo when Crunchyroll bought out RightStuf, its still not entirely clear what they're going to do with the licenses and/or the imprint.
