So apparently they just showed episodes 1-2 and the OP has Balaban & the others from the four sultanates in it... as much as I like Balaban this makes me a bit worried. I really hope they're not trying to cram the first 7 volumes into the first cour! :/ That would be incredibly rushed.
By the way Lucio will be played by Ono Daisuke. Again not the person I would have first thought of, but I'm curious of how he'll sound. |
I don't know the source material, but this first episode just screamed "heavily abridged" to me. Maybe things will slow down a bit when it gets going.

Well damn, that's an OP song that really shouldn't have been an OP song (or should have had a lot more creative visuals). Couldn't they have chosen a song that sounds less disjointed when cut down to a minute and half?
And I'm kind of worried that there's barely any Leledric in the opening, even though she plays a pretty significant role in the first arc, while Balaban is treated like some sort of last boss. Please please please don't try to cram all 7 volumes into the first cour, please... Quote:
As for the casting, this is what I was kind of worried about with Tsuda as Virgilio - he makes Virgilio sound like a complete villain. :/ Which is I guess how he comes across in the first volume, but he's one of my favorite characters so I hope the creative staff understands the manga and doesn't stick to treating him like a sort of evil character. (Just generally - please please don't make the mistake the Arslan adaptation did, and try to present this story as a Saturday morning adventure romp.) Everyone else sounds pretty great, though. And it's kind of funny seeing Zaganos in these early stages of the story, knowing where he and Mahmut will end up re: each other. |
Good start so far.
The OP song is fitting and they introduced the setting rather well. Plus, I like the animation style so far for this show in particular with the ED theme song. Tughril Mahmu is an interesting character imo, hopefully this show will focus on his development. (he reminds me slightly of Arslan) It's nice that they show some of his background story already. The most noticeable female character is Shara so far imo. Otherwise, this was my most anticipated show of the season. |
I thought the first episode was quite nice, and while the OP did not do much for me, the BGM in the ep itself worked nicely. The characters and the setting and the story all had me interested from the get go.
Followed. Definitely one of the stronger premiers thus far. This could get good! |
Why isn't this on crunchyroll?
This is one of my favourite manga, so much that I'm not even reading the thread. My heart won't stand up to reading critical reviews of it. |
