In theatres this fall."

magnuskn 2012-07-26 12:45

Well, it's Ozma.

BetoJR 2012-07-26 14:25

Still scratching my head, here...

Ithekro 2012-07-26 14:27

Macross 7's main band doing a tour that ends up on Macross 25?

I don't know if I should be crying, laughing or panicking.

They were at least 10 years older by then.

He was 21 in 2045.

Frontier took place in 2059, so 35.

Err... I'm not sure this deserves its own thread. It's just another small part of the 30th Anniversary celebrations, as far as I can tell.

LoveMeKags 2012-07-26 17:20

Ironically, I think I saw this coming. Recently, there have been lots of movements for Fire Bomber (concerts, etc.) and with the popularity of Frontier, I knew they'd eventually want to bring back their old popular group (since the music was so damn popular).:heh:

But this makes me wonder: will Ranka and Sheryl also be singing along with them?:eyebrow:

Obelisk ze Tormentor 2012-07-26 18:28

Ah, thanx for the info, Tak ;).

I hope not. Their performances are pretty exaggerated. I prefer Basara/Fire Bomber's low-key style of performance (just a band with some lights and no overkill special effects).

Yup yup :D.

To be honest, I don't really like Frontier anyway. While being a more serious show than 7, the characters spout many cringe-worthy lines almost like Shakespearean (in a bad way). If you want to go silly, then go silly all the way like Macross 7. That's why I prefer Basara's series :D.

I don't see many moments like you're referring to. Perhaps an example would help?:eyebrow:

Also, the most poetic line in the series is the very trollish line at the end: "you are both my wings." That is the most poetic, so-called "Shakespearean line" in the series.:heh:

The themes are completely different from anything close to what he would write.

But regarding the concerts: I meant up on stage at Fire Bomber's side, not like Frontier's concerts with all the holograms and crap. Way to get ahead of the idea...

Since I really don’t have time right now, how about some things that I remember from the top of my head. Umm... let’s see..., how about most of Sheryl’s statements about singing like ”I’d rather die than not singing on stage” that kinda talk. And what about Alto’s shounen-ish/poetic outburst when he fought the controlled vajras on the last episode? I may give some more specific addition later when I have the actual episodes.

If that's the only thing that you meant then it's okay.

If you say it like that, then Yes, I am thinking ahead of your idea. By the nature of Frontier’s makers, if they’re to animate FB+Sheryl collaboration, are you really sure that they won’t add those gimmicky special effects by the time Sheryl step on the Fire Bomber’s stage?

C.A. 2012-07-27 01:06

I think this is sort of expected, seeing how Macross 7 was added in SRWZ2.2 with all the interactions between Basara and the Frontier cast.

Fire Bomber still has an extremely large fanbase because of Fukuyama Yoshiki and Basara himself is very highly regarded in the mecha and SRW community.

Not really buying the problems with dialogue in Frontier. Although that's a purely personal thing on Obelisks part, so good for him. Although it's wrong. :D

Yes, whether a line/dialogue is cringe-worthy or not is more subjective than objective. For example: I think a line like “I’d rather die than not be able to sing on stage” is pretty cringe-worthy while others may think that it’s beautiful, spectacular, etc. So, I don't get the idea why others like LoveMeKags should question my taste. :heh:

After you said that it’s a personal matter, now you said I’m wrong?

<sigh> Humor is lost on some people, it appears. Well, humor is a personal thing, too.

Of course. It doesn't help that English is my third language ;).
