I really liked how they handled the portrayal of Saito and Louise's own internal conflicts, which came from Mr. Lolicon cutting in between them. The episode got better as it progressed, the atmosphere and musics during the night talk scene were all spot on (which meant that, just like every other non-comedic scene change, the "star wipe" really bugged me along with that "kyrarara~" sound).

This episode had almost no comedy whatsoever, which some of you might have noticed. This is because we're finally heading into one of the serious arcs (or rather, the very first) in the novel. If you ask me, they could've just tossed away all the star wipes here and focus on the action and drama...

Oh yeah,
Spoiler for only for novel readers:

Next week appears to be part 2 of the Albion trip... Surprisingly, it doesn't look like they're going to end vol.2 just yet. But if vol.2 ends with episode 12, that leaves them with only 1 final episode left for vol.3... hmm. (´・ω・`)

Fouquet was seen at the dinner table and as well as lurking in the shadows with an unknown person...

This is just my own guess...

Hmm... Do we know for certain how long this series is? Is there an anime slated to replace its time-slot?

Meanwhile... I smell a rat.
1) We don't know for sure that Waldo is the person Henrietta sent
2) He doesn't seem that focused on the mission
3) Seems more intent on seducing Louise and beating down Saito
4) Knows an awful lot about what Louise and Saito have been up to.
5) Seems next week he's going to try to marry Louise. What about the mission!?
6) The group seem to being tracked. Besides, should the Griffon master use the animals to fly the whole group?

Either he has an extreme loli-con (Louise looks pedo but she's 17 right?) or is a traitor.

zgmf-x19a 2006-09-04 08:04

about Waldo and his "lolicon" side well isn't it quite normal at that time to have young women marry older men ? Besides Louise is at least 16 right? So she is in age to get married right?

Anh_Minh 2006-09-04 08:20

Yeah, sure, she's really sixteen years old. But she still looks very loli, which makes me question the tastes of anyone (Saito included) that's interested in her...

What can I say ? To each his own :) I'm also wondering why Saito is interested in her but don't ask me :) ask the author :p I'm more for a Saito X Siesta pairing :)

Eichan 2006-09-04 09:51

Back in the days of yore (:heh: ), it was quite the norm for girls to marry and have children really early (13 and 14). Life spans are short and you gotta marry 'em when they're young. Louise is heading towards old maid-om at 16 by now.

Granted, there's magic and higher technology in this world, so they probably live much longer than their real life counterparts. :p

About Louise's temperment with Waldo:
I think it's simply because Waldo doesn't give her a REASON to get angry. Being a noble lady and he a noble gentleman, they both are all proper etiquette. Saito isn't a noble, nor is he a gentleman, which frustrates her. And while characters like Kirche and Guiche are nobles, they also do things out of the norm (not to mention call her "Zero"). Louise's standards of conduct are set very high.

Loved this ep. :D

Flat girls need lovin' too. They can't all be Double D's.

Anh_Minh 2006-09-06 16:29

It's not just the flatness. It's also the shortness. And lack of hips.

No matter how you look at her, she looks juvenile.

Having a baby would take care of the flatness and lack of hips.

Mmm...Kirche and Siesta may be looking rather smoking now, but after they pump out a couple of kids, they'll have cottage cheese thighs and their breasts will be hanging around their knees.
Louise, on the other hand, will be just right.

Waldo's thinking long term.
Foresight is always an admirable trait

While I must agree about Siesta, Kirche is a completly different subject. Don't forget that this is a magical world, and whenever supernatural is thrown in, such obvious things become not so obvious.

It worked with my wife. While considerably older, she was built a lot like Louise. Two kids improved her figure a lot. But, she also had a temper a lot like Louise, and two kids only made it worse.

this episode pretty much killed my interest in the romance angle between saito/ruisa

not exactly the most romantic of pairings when one is having thoughts of marrying another guy

I was really hoping the marriage was purely political/family related, but apparently there were actual feelings in (judging by the flashback, the blush, and the initial acceptance of the kiss)

whatever happens between them from here on out (I already know since I read up to vol.8 lol), she was going to marry another guy.

how romantic lol. It's fantasy, so it was easy to overlook the fact she struggles with even viewing Saito as a human let alone a love interest, but contemplating marriage to another guy is a little much.

still an awesome show/novel, but the romance died for me with that blush lol
