An anime adaptation of doujin circle Rui-tomo’s manga 「!!」 has been green-lit for production. The anime, entitled 「Gokicha!! Cockroach Girls」, will be shown on mobile phones. It will be produced by MOVIC.

The 「!!」 doujin manga is about a moe anthropomorphized cockroach girl named Gokicha who had just moved from Hokkaido and tries very hard to befriend humans. It was originally released at Comiket 77 in December 2009. The second doujin, entitled 「!!!」, was made available at Comiket 78 in August 2010.

wow japan can make anything moe. Maybe this will make me stop hating cockroaches.

Kagayaki 2011-02-01 02:54

Hmmm, I wonder what resolution it airs in if it's on cellphones. Also, I guess a cellphone show wouldn't have to fit in a normal-length timeslot. Maybe it'll be kind of like Nyaruko-san...

Do they talk? or is it all just funny animation?

No chance... as we all know all real life cockroaches are male. :p

Excuse me but i'm getting the pesticide ready.

Exhibit CC on the cancer killing the anime industry. Note: Exhibit CB was Ika Musume.

felix 2011-02-03 18:09

Ika Musume was great. Also this doujin... I've heard of it from long ago. Pages would pop up on image boards. So if there was some cancer, the anime industry would be a corpse at the moment. Or at least that's my completely unfounded assessment based on barely tangent proof. :p

Nihokon 2011-02-06 09:21

It feels surreal, feeling moe over a cockroach.
Well, at least this looks promising considering its manga's popularity.

Asuras 2011-02-06 20:09

Japan you crazy bastard.

Just wondering what an anthropomorphizing cockroach looks like. :uhoh:

Daniel E. 2011-02-06 21:22

This was posted on the new announced anime thread sometime back and it surprised me to not see it here as well:

Asuras 2011-02-06 21:35

Weh. Not particularly moe, but I see how they fit.

MrTerrorist 2011-02-07 04:44

Kill them! Smash them! Exterminate the cockroaches!!

MeoTwister5 2011-02-07 06:03

I find the brown-red cockroaches more disgusting than the black ones.

BaKaBaKaOtaKu 2011-02-07 06:46

oh man, amongst all the pests i know, cockroaches are the worst! DX see, they alrdy knew they'd be killed and yet they still won't stop coming over you. DX Anyway, i like this since i like moe.XD

The author just used the convenient color scheme most likely. I wouldn't be surprised if a pink on shows up.

Gokicha/Cockroach Girls Manga Serialized in Magazine

Well isn't that nice. Pesticide anyone?

Flying Dagger 2011-07-28 13:35

No, please no.
I don't care what color they are. Let it be black brown yellow pink.
Ever smashed one and the white blood just splatter making a mess?

Lilith 2011-07-29 13:19

I came here thinking its an anime about "antenna-haired girls" (ahoge).

I'll never look at a cockroach the same way again... before I smash it.

Its a trap!!!

Kill it with FIRE!!!

Kameruka 2011-07-29 16:52

As far as I know, Naoko Tekeuchi(author of Sailormoon) already made manga about anthropomorphized cockroaches long before this one but it was stopped and I don't know why. According to some rumors the original script were missing and its not going to be re-published again.
