So any expectations about this novel?

I heard it might be based off of the anime's original uncut script.

GDB 2011-08-09 10:04

Unless Gen himself is writing it, I don't really expect too much more in the way of backstory than the anime and manga had. The most I'd expect is maybe deeper insight into the thought process of characters.

Those are just my theories.

XD...

Mine would be:
1) More Sayaka in action (before Mami died).
2) Homura is less cold.
3) They all team up to kill the witch (with the exception of Sayaka, who still dies anywhere, no matter what the source).

Some pictures of the novel at C80.

Dark Wing 2011-08-12 18:30

Wow some of that is pretty graphic...talk about pulling no punches...:heh:

Cosmic Eagle 2011-08-12 20:34

Is this a C80 only release?

Magica Quartet....that includes Urobuchi no?

Riga92 2011-08-12 20:36

Its actually just a pre-release at C80. A limited edition is officially being released on August 14.

The novel is based on Urobochi's original script, but the one who is writing it is Nitro+'s Hajime Ninomae.

So like Zanma Taisei's novels then. Which were pretty good, but I'll see how this one turns out.

Hagoshod 2011-08-14 21:29

The novel seemingly adheres to the manga's rules of Magical Girls maintaining their magical form when they die. Interesting.

Also, that Mami picture is unf. I'll leave it up for your interpretation which one I'm referring to.

Is this the alternate universe? Does the novel have multiple path/ending?

The novel follows the anime and manga, its not like a visual novel if that is what you're thinking ;)

The difference is that the novel is based on Gen's original script before he revised/cut it down to the anime and manga's script. So there are things in the novel not shown in the others.

For example, the wiki has two translated excerpts which are flashbacks of Madoka's childhood with Sayaka.

I see what you did there ;)

Hagoshod 2011-08-15 04:14

Well, I made it pretty obvious to anyone who would get the reference.

ninryu 2011-08-15 04:23

There's gonna be a novel?! *waku waku*

sa547 2011-08-18 03:28

Someone's lunch would be unloaded with Mami's "before and after" pics. Besides... I think the latter pic might as well change my mind about big chests, and think twice.

In a nutshell, some of the illustrations are no-holds-barred.

Cosmic Eagle 2011-08-18 04:26

You have to agree the Sayaka and Kyouko one is really sweet though

So no one else looked at the last pic of Homura and realized what the ending of the anime actually meant? Poor Homura. :(

Wasn't it also implied by the end of the manga?
