Problem with registering

I am using windows 8.1, Mozilla, Opera, Chrome, and I could not register because I could not see validation image form. I tried with different browser and I tried it on my laptop and desktop computer. Then I tried to register through my mobile device and I succeeded. My conclusion is that it has problems with certificate on windows 8.1.

Thanks for letting us know about this issue. We're investigating to see what we can do about it over the short and long term.

Some problems remain (got a visitor at the IRC channel again). A user there is getting this message:

Quote:

Sorry, we are unable to register your account at this time.
Some of us at the IRC channel tried to register with his contact information. We got the same message. Everything seems bog-standard; the e-mail address is a gmail one.

The registrations aren't all broken though: the user deleteme12345 with e-mail deleteme12345@example.org was successfully registered.

That error is by design. I recommend they try registering with a different email address and/or username.

Well, he tried a different e-mail address, but not a user name AFAIK.

Strange design decisions you have.

When one can only see a small part of something, decisions about the whole are often seemingly inexplicable.

The vague error message was chosen by the forum's original developers, not us. The vagueness comes, partly, from it having to cover a multitude of sins without leaking information. Committing any one of those many sins often means we simply don't want the person using the forum at all (e.g. accounts being registered by spammers or banned persons are wholly undesirable).

Without knowing more about the person trying to create an account, and what they were putting into the registration form, it isn't possible to know exactly why the account was rejected at that given moment.
