Correction: It's actually called Granblue Fantasy. (Edit: Oh, someone already edited the thread title to the correct one.)

Also, TC, you post the wrong pic. That's the pic for the manga release, not the anime.

Here's the game version of the preview:

Not surprised to the slightest considering how insanely popular the game became around march-april this year (incidentally right after I started playing :heh:)
Pretty much looking forwards to it, although they might need to tweak the story a bit as it is a bit too conventional I guess... and the bigger problem is the cast...There are so many popular characters it will be difficult to make a proper choice, similarly to Kancolle in fact :heh: They also can stick to the core group from the story mode, but that would be a bit of a waste (if they don't make use of Vira and the likes, a lot of people will riot). |
Holy crap, they're making an anime of this, and from A-1? HYPE!! I started this game around June, and I love it. :D

Some of the footages shown
Dynamic tag cannot be rendered. (PrintableThread) and let me just say Mingosu is still strong :heh: |
I really love this game and the characters are very nice.

So it's not an adaptation of this...
Dynamic tag cannot be rendered. (PrintableThread) Too bad... :heh: |

Oh. It's Cygames once more. Сount me interested.
|
Looks ok... through game adaptation does raise a few worry flags.
I'll give it a episode or or so to win or lose me. |
I just hope they don't mess with the character designs again, please.
|
Game adaptations make me nervous. A lot of times they end up just kind of...empty and shallow, like BB or Blade and Soul. But I love the direction for this, so far.
|
One thing they must do is to keep the game OST. Uematsu talent is still pristine for this one:
|
So, Gran or Jita? In these sort of adaptations they usually use the male MC. It would be cool if this time they go for the girl instead.
|
I'm not normally interested in mobage, but the art and music are so pretty I'd be tempted to give it a try if they localize it.

I wish they kept closer to Hideo Minaba's art, his work is amazing. |
Granblue has a plot, albeit a bit classic. It still has a lot of "old JRPG" vibes due to its narrative and the world setting being very close to 2D FF games.
By itself, the plot is fine, but the end result heavily depends of the direction, and the cast as a whole. The series can be either a boring pile of JRPG tropes or an impressive and epic journey. |

Though it's interesting that A-1 is the main studio on this one when CyGames recently founded their own animation studio. Perhaps their own studio isn't quite ready for prime time yet? (Or is working on something else.) |
