Thor: Ragnarok

Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, Mark Ruffalo, and More
Will Star In Thor: Ragnarok:

"Tons and tons of rumors about the cast of the next Thor movie have
been floating around for ages, but now Marvel has finally confirmed its
cast list. While there’s a few expected faces on there, there’s one
really big surprise: Holy Christ, Jeff Goldblum is in this movie.

The list confirms the long-running rumor that Cate Blanchett will play
the film’s primary villain: Hela, the Asgardian Goddess of Death, seen
in concept art from the movie above. Meanwhile, Jeff Goddamn
Goldblum, who recently hinted that he’d be joining a superhero
project, will play the Grandmaster—a cosmic character from the
comics who is incredibly powerful, and uses said power to essentially
dick about in the universe and play games (usually revolving around
forcing people to fight against each other for his pleasure)."

Somewhere in Hollywood, someone added 20 minutes to the runtime after the Goldblum announcement.

FlareKnight 2016-05-24 23:24

I guess they really loved the whole Dark Galadriel scene from LOTR. Kind of a cool move bringing in Cate Blanchett as a major villain.

Of course I was on board for this movie just with Thor and Hulk teaming up, but this definitely adds to it :). And yeah, also adds to the runtime with the Goldblum announcement.

'Thor: Ragnarok' Shares New On-Set Photo and Synopsis
Revealing Hulk vs. Thor 'Gladatorial Contest'

"Although Marvel fans have a pretty good idea about what Chris Hemsworth’s Thor was
up to while his Avengers buddies were smacking each other around during Captain
America: Civil War — he was hanging out with his new roommate Darryl — they’ve been
largely kept in the dark about his upcoming adventure Thor: Ragnarok, save for some
clues provided by the casting of Mark Ruffalo (as the Hulk) and Jeff Goldblum (as the
Grandmaster). Now, the studio has released an official plot synopsis for the film — and it
confirms plot points many have long suspected."

That's one main reason why I didn't take a side during the Civil War movie last year: if the comics are any indication, both sides are pretty much screwed once Hulk gets back (from Planet Hulk). :D

First Official Images from 'Thor: Ragnarok'

Noooooo. He cut his hair.....

Obelisk ze Tormentor 2017-03-09 05:00

First the helmet, and now the hair? Someone on the production really hate how Thor originally looks :heh:.

erneiz_hyde 2017-03-09 05:05

Nooo, the Thoreal meme...

Renchan 2017-03-10 05:23

Is this the time for the "character developmet" joke?

R.I.P Thor's hair.

Toukairin 2017-03-10 18:38

He dropped the blond color for the hair as well. Thor really looks less Scandinavian now.

Just because he has anger issues doesn't mean he isn't a good work buddy :heh:.

Wandering Soul 2017-04-10 12:13

It feels like Hulk is going through the Planet Hulk story-line, only he's fighting Thor instead of Sliver Surfer.

Thor, the fact that he's a friend from work means that you should about his anger issues better than anyone else there:heh:.

It could also explain why those two weren't involved in Captain America: Civil War, as Planet Hulk was happening around the same time as Civil War in the comics.

Well, even if Ragnarock takes place outside of CW's timetable, Thor was out in space abd wouldn't know anything about CW, and Banner was probably more concerned with staying out of the conflict and not letting the Hulk make things worse for either side, let alone Cap's.

Btw.........one of the best Marvel lines yet in that teaser. :)
