Huh, the anime reached Wano a bit sooner than I thought. Anyway, discuss away!

Ok so preview is already up and some sound effects will be replaced. Not to mention Toei will get two new staff as Wano starts.

Well, that was a great star to the arc. The new art style is great and the animation has really picked up, you can tell they really want to do this arc justice. Also, was that Sanji in his Germa outfit in the opening? He looks awesome.

Ramero 2019-07-08 09:08

Yeah, it was Sanji with Number 3 at the opening. Still, anyone can guess how much opening on Wano this time? Whole Cake Island got 5 openings.

Tommy 2019-07-09 19:57

Glad to see them spend some $$$$ on this opening episode! Hope they continue the trend because the art and animation look beautiful! I don’t remember the last time I’ve seen so much blood animated from fodder getting slashed up. Also it feels damn good to see Zoro and Usopp again!

Rainbowman 2019-07-12 12:38

I wonder if the Wano opening had any yokai (Japanese ghosts)?

I really wish one for that since Japan's samurai era should have plenty of Yokai.

I still hate the dragging out of episodes. It made this episode longer than it should be, and made Luffy and Zoro weaker than they should be. Seriously, Zoro should have taken out that bat guy with one swing before the guy can even do his ridiculous unlimited arrow works.

And then Luffy just stands there dumbfounded when the girl was taken? Really? As soon as he sees her taken, he should have reacted and gone after her. I don't know how it is in the manga, but in anime form, these things just makes the story feel way off.

thundrakkon 2019-09-08 03:46

OK, this episode was even more frustrating than the last episode, as far as logic goes.

Luffy, who is supposed to be one of the 5 emperors of the sea now, cannot even dent a low level lackey that is a bat guy? Seriously?

And then the gazelle guy suddenly outruns everybody by an hours time? Even though he was in visual range of Luffy and Zoro as they were chasing him.

I think Oda should just end this and get this over with, as he is either beginning to run out of ideas, or he is just tired of doing One Piece well.

Sounds like someone is being an impatient ingrate. :nono: You can’t just jump to conclusions like that when there’s more than meets the eye. Oda is working on the manga and not necessarily the anime that is adapted from the manga. To say that Oda is running out of ideas is a bit too soon at this point.

thundrakkon 2019-09-14 01:50

Excuse me, but this is neither impatient nor is it ingrate. No one that has watched One Piece for this long can be considered impatient. And the nerve to say someone is an ingrate for commenting about the quality of the current story is bit presumptuous. What can be commented on for an anime is what is in the anime, not some future content from the manga that is hinted at.

And if you want to comment about what has passed in the last arc, the devil fruit powers were a bit too illogical, so yes, he could be running out of ideas. For example, Biscuits powers made no sense since it was a complex cooked item created by humans instead of an element, elements found in the wild, a creature, or mystical creature. Not only that, moving biscuits clones? Biscuits that are harder than steel? I wouldn't call that creative, but just doing whatever whenever.

This has been going on for awhile, with things seeming to just drag out. He originally envisioned to end the manga in 10 years, but now it's 20 years. It's his editors and Jump that are trying to squeeze this out for as long as they can. He may be truly getting tired of doing this.

I understand your frustration. It doesn't help matters either that you're watching the anime only which has serious issues with pacing. As for the creativity/ideas concerning DFs, One Piece has never been bound to 100% reality/logic. And that's not necessarily a bad thing since a lot of concepts grounded within our realm of reality/logic wouldn't work well in the One Piece universe.

Oda envisioned to end One Piece in 5 years, actually. It's hilarious since he totally underestimated how long it would take to progress through his story. I can't say anything about his editors and Jump since it's all hearsay and speculation, but Oda has consistently shown for the past 22 years that he's passionate about his work and genuinely enjoys doing it.

This sumo episode didn't deserve to be this long. And man, it's really convenient how this bad guy flew all the way to the lion's dude house and hit him directly in the face. I haven't seen an asspull like this since the final fight of Battle Tendency.

thundrakkon 2020-01-05 08:42

Luffy apparently has a long way to go before he is deserving of that "Emperor of the Sea" title. He really needs to upgrade his power and battle strength before he can be considered a legitimate threat to any of the other "Emperors".

I guess there is 2 things that can hint to that power upgrade. One is the upgrade of his rubber powers to the next level, which, I guess will allow him to rubberize things around him? The other is to actually use Conqueror's Haki in actual combat instead of just to knock out large groups of low level grunts. I really have no idea how that can be used, but hopefully, One Piece can surprise me with that someday.

Ramero 2020-01-05 11:00

For DF Fruit, i think it could resembles Law of Ueki where Ueki need to use his own power to reach level 2 or in One Piece the awakening. We don't know the prequisitions let alone how to unlock it. Either Luffy need to train himself back to the basics or to train how to not overstrain with Haki imbuation. Rayleigh got no time to taught Luffy and hopefully Luffy can receive a crash course.

Looking forward for Sanji to wear Raid Suit, anyway. Luffy and Chopper will have their eyes shiny if they saw Sanji is on that suit.

thundrakkon 2020-09-13 06:40

There has been low discussion here, even though the Wano arc has been quite good.

I've been waiting for Zoro to go all out. He wants to be the greatest swordsman in the world, but seeing him struggle against these swordsmen makes me think he has a long ways to go. Also, he is still missing a third sword, so he might not be at full power.

Still, I want to see him wreak havoc soon. The Strawhats just seem weak compared to some of the strong characters in this arc, so that's been disappointing.

Ramero 2020-11-17 08:04

I can't resist Zoro vs Sanji to the point where they got new nickname on Wano :D

FlareKnight 2021-01-10 22:15

I'll tend to agree with Hancock. Those pirates (besides Buggy) got those positions because they were powerful enough to warrant it. The Navy is going to have a pretty hard time taking them on. One would think they are mostly aware of this, but who knows. It's a bit tougher spot for Hancock since she can't move her home or leave it undefended here. But most of the others have at least the option to just pick up and go.

I sure hope they sent an Admiral or two after Mihawk. You aren't bringing down the world's strongest swordsman with a few ships and some captains.

Downside of the latest episode was that a lot of information besides the warlord's being stripped of their titles was shaky. What happened to Vivi and her country? What went down with Sabo? Did all this get covered before and I just forgot? Possibly!

thundrakkon 2021-01-10 23:58

It was a frustrating episode to watch in that most of the episode was just teasing information without actually giving anything. The whole episode could have been completed in 2 minutes, but they decided to fill it out with pretty much nothing.

Ramero 2021-01-28 19:42

Zoro vs Sanji on the anime...
I feels like it's a bliss, it's more detailed than the manga does.
