Aoi's got game.

If Google is translating things accurately enough, this page says the show is doing a collaboration with the local basketball team of the region where the characters live. There's also a video of the seiyuu who plays the new character, Koharu, with members of the team.

HERE IT COMES!!!

October premiere date
12 episodes
30 minutes each!
However, the first four episodes are going to be compilations with some new content. All-new content doesn't start until Episode 5.

And there's a new key visual:

I was a bit surprised at the first four episodes essentially being a recap with a little new content, but as it's been a while since the last season I think that'll be a good way to get back into the show.
That trailer has got me really looking forward to it!

Encouragement of Climb Voice Actors Tease the Upcoming Season

Report from the "Autumn Festival" event, which included a preview showing of Episode 5 (the first all-new one).

Infinite Zenith 2022-10-03 22:29

It's only a few more weeks. We can wait to see the all-new content, and I'm actually curious to see the recaps, too.

Dop 2022-10-04 13:22

As a well done recap episode this was quite a nice way to ease back into the show, reintroduce the characters and setup. As I'd never quite gotten around to digging into the archive for previous seasons I enjoyed the chance for a refresher before the new material starts.

The frames are still what they were previously, but I think characters and backgrounds both look a bit sharper, and colour is more consistent overall, too.

Ep.1
It has been so long since the last time I see the first season...The recap helped me remember the early part of story and how these girls met each other.

Kanon 2022-10-04 18:02

Why did they insist so much on the glasses girl from Aoi's middle school in the pre-OP scene? I don't remember her.

That bit with the sandwiches... Aoi can be such a bitch sometimes :heh:

I feel like they're treating the first four episodes as a chance to reboot the series. They've moved to HIDIVE for streaming (don't know about distribution in Japan itself), and they're doing full-length episodes for the first time. Treating it as a fresh start that can bring in a new audience might be a good idea.

Well that was some recap reintroducing everyone seeing how Hinata breaking Aoi out of her shell and how they just meet Kokona

I haven't watched a single season before, but since this anime is smart (rare for some reason) enough to recap past seasons so not just past viewers can watch it, I think it deserves to be watched. It is so rare for some reason, I almost think it gets an automatic 10/10 for this.

It feels less like a reboot, since the frames are more or less identical to what was seen in the original. That being said, this first episode was effective in conveying to viewers what the original season had portrayed while at the same time, adding more context to things. Overall, I imagine we'd get a more complete picture of things before entering this next act proper.
