TV Channel it was recorded from.

Just to add to that: Anime often airs more than once on different channels around the country, and sometimes the broadcasts are different quality (widescreen vs. fullscreen, edited/non edited, etc...) so it can make a difference between captures.

Also if there's an earthquake or something and there's a scroll warning on the video in one raw, it probably won't be on one recorded on a different station (at a different time).

jofori89 2009-09-13 08:52

Thank you guys, so what channel usually have firm, identical quality?

TheFluff 2009-09-13 10:14

get AT-X if you can, that's the best channel

failing that try NHK-BS2

Emess 2009-09-13 10:58

AT-X often have a lot more detail in their broadcasts than most other channels. Some channels just seem to have all sorts of junk over the picture.

MBS and Chiba have some nice things occasionally. The BS channels tend to do well as well, but some (hi BS11) have huge ugly pointless watermarks.

E~

KBS is also a choice to consider, that channel is top QUALITY.

Starks 2009-09-13 14:36

I can't tell if you guys are being serious about AT-X.

Last I heard they were still a premium, low definition satellite station that occasionally plays decent, uncensored anime.

As for KBS, I thought they were still in the shit-tier with TVK.

Quit yanking the topic poster's chain.

at-x used to only air letterboxed sd stuff full of dotcrawl and rainbows, yes, but these days it's all real nice high-bitrate h264 1080i stuff; afaik they're the first japanese channel to switch from mpeg2 to h264 for their broadcasts

dunno about kbs, someone else will have to answer that one

Kristen 2009-09-14 07:03

KBS = Fabulous. At least, it has to be, considering how many rainbows are on that station.

jofori, really, I think the only 2 channels with identical quality are TV-O and D-TX. Although, TV-O does tend to do a bit better with compression than D-TX.

Emess: Unless that station happens to be BS-TBS. ;)

Now, about AT-X... I did a search, and it seems like the .ts for it are STILL 480i as of July 30th...

TheFluff 2009-09-14 07:20

no it was not at all obvious that I was lying my ass off (japan will not ever switch to h264 for their ts's, not in the foreseeable future)

in case someone still didn't get it, at-x most likely the worst channel you will ever cap anything from; their cto is literally hitler

AT-X is supposed to start AT-X HD next month.

Will they still suck or not? We'll see.

npcomplete 2009-09-16 00:21

but still, the AT-X suggestion still has merit just for the uncensored content

However, most any show that it airs 'uncensored' is probably garbage to begin with.

Desbreko 2009-09-16 21:12

For uncensored versions, I'd rather wait for DVD or BD source, anyway.

This is the first I'm hearing of this.

Does this mean that the new Queen's Blade might get HD treatment?

K!R4 2009-09-17 13:51

thats a good news sylf (hope its true), but before i jump in joy. ill wait and see what kind of quality their hd broadcast would look like. anyhow, itd still bring improvement to the series they air regardless.

Quarkboy 2009-09-17 14:24

Even if the channel goes HD, there's nothing stopping them from airing an upscaled SD version on purpose like they did with K-On! or numerous other shows.

For a title like Queen's Blade I'll bet you anything there's no way they'll air it in full HD before they release the Blu-rays.

FYI, my source is http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/AT-X
It can always be wrong.

It's what type of cheesecake the capper ate earlier that day.
