I believe that in the end, all four friends got together, because after Haruka turns around and smiles, you see a picture of the four ferrets under the tree, which I believe is a symbol for the four...

Very good points.

Although you do have to wonder, just how far would the girls have been willing to go under different circumstances? Maybe if Haruka had been a little more clingy, and Mitsuki a little more desperate....
