You're right, it could very well be the encode. Tho I've had it, in general, macroblock more often than my Radeon 4850 (which, admittedly, doesn't accelerate some of the higher end H.264 clips)....

Because what mobile platforms really need are less supported computers, a more expensive development setup, all of the iPhone's disadvantages, and an attempt to kill OpenGL ES 2.0.

Seriously,...

Quick bit: Notion Ink released a spec sheet right before MWC, and the big announcement is options for Android/Ubuntu/Chromium OS, which hopefully means it'll be very "open" to custom OS's (e.g....

Anything that requires soldering in a PCI-E connector is probably more work than it's actually worth (given time spent and all), and like I said, it's not worth it if I have to take out the wireless...

I was just looking at Broadcom's Crystal HD chip, which seems awesome but brings about two rather important questions. Once again, sorry for the hijack, as this is barely relevant but I'm not sure it...

There are two major problems with Apple releasing a PC-friendly OSX:

1. They, in all honesty, probably can't afford the driver support. Even with no work to stop hardware from working, there's a...

Failing that, you're left with the regular gamut of options:

1. Go open source. Gimp has plenty of issues, but it's getting better near-daily. It MIGHT have what you need (and possibly more!). The...

The two big misconceptions I've heard repeated online that I'm not entirely sure are true are Tegra 2 having a G90-derived core and the Adam having Ubuntu as an option. Nowhere in any of the Tegra 2...

Try EVR first if it doesn't...
