Kyosuke gets major points for being a somewhat of a realistic, level-headed older brother type of character (something that we hardly see in anime nowdays)....

Finally someone who doesn't put Ai's arc at the top of the list. Compared to Sae and Haruka's arc, Ai's arc felt a bit dry (nothing much was happening in that arc, except a few things).

I would actually vote for Kaoru > Sae > Haruka > Ai as the order from best to worst. Sae didn't really have the most dramatic moments, but it was really light-hearted, and that's good enough for me....

But he probably didn't know that until the motel scene in the series. He probably thought that Haruka's grandparents were going to actually come to the hotel.
