You'll probably like the Law of Ueki, if you're into shounen-series. Toward the Terra, Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto and Ooedo Rocket are also some nice recommentations.

The thing with Shigurui is that it's incredibly gory. Elfen Lied is nothing compared to it. Apart from that, though, it's an excellent horror-series that perhaps ended a tad too early.
