Yeah i was at least hoping for more of an explanation on that, though i'm not all that bothered that we didn't get one. I guess there's a lot more detail on it in the novel.

Yeah, that was the impression that was given in the first few episodes of the series, though nothing was ever said to back up that truth. It didn't bother me as such really.

I just see it as more material for Murasaki's development of the outside world, and it it seems to be working. Not to mention hoe enjoyable these episodes are.
