Well you could uninstall and then reinstall Episode 7, then use the Ep 7 patch and you be fine. Just don't mess with the songs next time.

The 50% patch feels like it contains more then 50% of the story, unless episode 8 is just really long. Or perhaps I'm not used to reading Umineko...

I would imagine so. Being a writer myself, I often write an overview of what I want to happen within the story. It's just so you always know where your story is heading and you don't get sidetracked.
