Rough and raw as all first timers goes but I'm plunging in headlong nonetheless.
Spoiler for Katrina's thoughts:
“Takamachi Georashi Keroko, or so this girl calls herself.Hmph.”
“Aged 4 when Neltharion went to Earth, for reasons unknown. That girl was the lone survivor out of his descent. Should Keroko consider herself lucky she lived? Or cursed at the scar he left behind?”
A faint smile is traced across Katrina’s face.
“Left alone, traces of the corruption in her body probably would have consumed her within a few years, as a slight demonstration of her increasing aggressiveness was shown.”
“Well never mind the minor details. The farce carried far enough for her to make it as a mage. To share the same fate as the one she would later call her sister, Keroko is an unfortunate case. Even as Keroko unleashed her rage later on, she was simply wounding herself tighter in her own trappings.”
The smile grew into a grin.
“Taping into their magical potential was a gift and a curse, unbeknownst to the two even now. Seeking to protect others, were they thinking they really could help? Ah well 9 year old children born on Earth could hardly know better.”
“And with her new identity as a member of the Takamachis, little Keroko happily dives into the last Book of Darkness incident.”
At this point, Katrina rolls her eyes before moving from her seat in the apartment and moves to the window side. She speaks, to no one in particular, only to reaffirm her thoughts on the girl she was occupied with at hand, her eyes far away and unmoving.
“In front of Gil Graham, her answer to his question had been mockingly innocent. Probably got it straight from the Nanoha girl. Simply because of those she called friends, she took the risks. With every risk she took, a step towards the path was made. And towards the very creature she will become in time to pass.”
“Using the powers granted to them, those two dove headlong into the chasm they carved for themselves. Keroko with the corruption she abhorred and Nanoha with the expenditure of herself.”
“The Liezes pushed her along nicely though. Now that is what I would call true potential. Pity though, she could have just ended her struggle and burned out right then and crippled herself as a mage. Mortals are such suckers for punishment after all.
Pure irony isn’t it? Neltharion has such a profound grasp over a mere human he doesn’t even know of, that even the smallest fragment of his power causes grief and joy to Keroko, a dangling puppet with the puppeteer within and far away at the same time. So much that she has no choice in it all to even rebel and struggle against, save short of killing herself.”
Pausing to ponder, Katrina muses over her last statement and that she at least chose where she stands today by her own choice without the confusions of those others.
Clashed of the cursed ensues as the foolish girl fights the will of the Book. Even with complete control, Keroko was simply too naïve. Tapping into the corrupted powers had been the first mistake she would make and she went as far as to exert herself heavily against the avatar of the Book’s will, thereby ensuring the corruption would spread faster from there on. Who ever told her complete control never meant a complete lack of exposure back at her?
“Silly humans always assume one thing and never, ever think of the possible consequences, however far hidden from them it might be. Moving along blissfully until they lament the next so-called calamity to hit them and wonder why when it’s clearly their own doing.
At least if not for them, there’s no where else I’ll get my fun from.” Katrina finishes off, with an expression bordering between what most would interpret as “mildly happy”.
And with each bond she forges, those will turn into the very binds that will spread her corrupted flame forth.
Turning about to face the empty room, she continues.
“Keroko’s actions in the TSAB only serve to expand the rot within. She can feel the flames every time she fights, the irrational rage and suppression boiling just to be released.
Her little Rogue Squadron helps too. Every time she loses a Rogue, be it to the Necrons or to that Simon Phoenix, the loss claws away at her and Neltharion’s hold threatens to overwhelm among the grief of her loss. Keroko might have just let herself go and unleash the dragon within her but she holds on, only to delay the eventuality that she will. She’s done well to resist thus far and for those silly reasons no less only amuse me to no end.”
“Revenge for her men is what she acknowledges it as but Neltharion’s corruption is making its rise to the surface as well, hiding among her thoughts so well Keroko doesn’t have a single real clue why she’s so persistent about the entire matter.”
Eventuality evades us all, simply because deep down we don’t want to face the fears we created in the search of the falsehood that will never come.
“As she is now, Keroko is fairly capable of channeling Neltharion’s corrupted energies for her use but that power which she relies on will someday be the master of her. When that time comes, she will be the very one to threaten everyone which she holds dear, not some other criminal out there or a crazy scientist but herself.
Be it the corruption growing stronger and breaking the seals to consume her, losing her device or pushing herself until she can no longer go back, Keroko holds that possibility to go on a berserk rampage. Best of it is that she can’t stop it from happening.”
“Ignorant of her position, she still chose to tie herself to so many. If she’s lucky, she will be struck down by another and leave those still alive to carry the scars she left behind or by some slim chance, find her hands bloodied by the lives of those precious to her, driving her to living insanity.”
I do wonder who will that be when the time comes. The Mistress, the Golden Lighting or the White Devil herself? Either way, I’m going to enjoy this.
A malicious smile of the worst sort was spread wide across her countenance by now.
“Playing around with her adopted family took her pretty far but at the end, Keroko will wish she would be better off alone destroying herself than implicate those she called her loved ones.”
Perhaps it’s time to educate our young Deathwing just exactly the shape of the trap she’s weaved for herself rather than just have little old me mused about it all alone in here.
A swishing sound of long flowing hair was all that was heard before a single silver feather drifted below the window sill, alone under the moonlight streaming in.
Not everything that I wanted to include came out as it should so I'm feeling it's missing something and will edit it later on since it always come after I'm done.
