Background/History:
Gen Ealin was orphaned at the age of 12 following the disastrous aftermath of a meteor striking Mid Childa’s southern continent, taking an entire island along with it and leaving a crater on Mid Childa visible from space. A school trip to the capital had spared him the same fate as his parents, while his parents and his island home were vaporized. With his parents’ death, he had no means of support and joined the Mid Childa Ground Forces.
As a recruit, Gen was a loner who did not get along with others, his parents death leaving a permanent mark on him. Nevertheless, he was a driven cadet who produced excellent results, as noted by many of his instructors. Attaining the ground mage rank of A at age 14, Gen was not happy with his current status as merely part of the ground forces, one which he found to be lacking. Training and practicing in between missions for the mage tests, he manage to attain AAA status in 3 years by the time he left the ground forces, opting to join the Navy as a Enforcer.
A full fledged Enforcer with 6 years of field missions under his belt, Gen was still the loner he was but by now he had a high handed approach to whatever he did, namely during his missions dealing with the common weapons smuggler or space pirate. His actions were questioned several times by his officers but as he likes to say, “The ends justify the means”. The higher ups overlooked his actions after reviewing his excellent track record in the field and the many successful missions he undertook.
Coincidentally, a year later, Gen was one of the many Enforcers onboard the TSAB ship Hestia, guarding the sealed Book of Darkness and its captured master. Gen was guarding the captured mage when he detected a device the prisoner had managed to somehow retain despite his arrest and under heavy restrain.
Confiscating the device, Gen was on the way to the bridge to report the device he found when the Book went berserk. Chaos ensued as the rampaging Book of Darkness went on to rapidly consume and take over the control of the Hestia. Admiral Clyde Harlaown orders the evacuation of the Hestia. Gen escapes the Hestia before Admiral Gil Graham, commander of the convoy guarding the Book, gives the order to fire the Arc En Ciel and destroys the infested Hestia with Admiral Harlaown and the Book’s master onboard.
Gen returns to TSAB HQ shortly after the incident to find out more about the Book of Darkness, which has plagued the TSAB for decades. Searching through the databanks of the HQ regarding information on the Book, Gen had uncovered a file hidden deep within hidden archives, dated MC 042.
The Book of Darkness’ last known incarnation had materialized on Mid Childa itself. The Book was running amok on an island near the southern continent and it was decided the risk of the Book of Darkness running loose on and consuming Mid Childa was too great and the sole measure of containment was to destroy it with one of the Arc En Ciel fitted warships currently near the TSAB’s home planet.
The orders were given and the shot fired. Hundreds of kilometers of the planet surface were eradicated in an instant, killing thousands of people along with it. The repercussions of a failed containment of the Book and the firing of such a weapon that wiped out so many lives were unthinkable, hence the people involved decided on a massive cover-up, citing a small meteor had struck the island. The local media was used to great effect to enforce that the local populace held the general impression. Citizens of Mid Childa mourned the passing of so many and happening of a great tragedy; unaware of the lies they were fed.
Gen held the same expression throughout his perusal of the file but he was burning with cold fury inside. The monstrosity of such a fabrication and the utter ineffectiveness of the TSAB at handling the Book combined was a unforgivable mistake, his parents among those who paid the ultimate price of such a mistake, when it was no fault of theirs. Gen decided to track and strike down the people who had been involved in the incident 12 years ago. He would make those responsible pay for their crimes and their lies. He no longer had spare time, devoting all his efforts and resources available to finding out who was responsible, finding out their names and tracking their current whereabouts, in the days to come that he might have his complete revenge fulfilled.
Ironically, 4 years after the last Book of Darkness incident, Gen was given the distinction of being a “Striker”, by the very same TSAB he had promised to wreak vengeance upon. Names still eluded him at this point as to who were the real culprits. There was no complete record of the incident so many years ago and he had to resort to hacking and digging through the many databanks scattered through out the administered worlds to gather the necessary information. Progress was slow but Gen was patient. Meanwhile he continued his role as a TSAB lackey to great lengths, even getting promoted to Captain during this period of time.
7 years later, news of the permanent sealing of the Book of Darkness spread throughout the TSAB. Gen’s interest was caught by the fact that the fearsome Book had been sealed away by three mages from the 97th non-administered world known as “Earth”. Gen had applauded the 3 young mages for their incredible feat but at the same time, was deeply disgusted by the TSAB’s total incompetence, letting the Book run amok again and relying on outsiders to finish their work.
A year later, Gen began to take an active interest to the “Neo-Belkan” magic system , attracted by the ideal conditions with close range combat in mind and the focus on anti-personnel attacks and spells that were tuned towards boosting and augmenting both mages and devices in melee combat. Most promising of all was the cartridge system installed on the newly developed Armed Devices, which allowed for instantaneous increase in magic power.
Gen began training in the Neo-Belkan system, at the same time developing his device assembly and modification skills, developing an Armed Device fitted to his personal needs. By the end of twelve months, Gen’s device reached completion, a pair of gauntlets he named “Eve”. Shortly after Eve’s completion, Gen successfully completed his next mage test, using Eve and the Neo-Belkan magic system to great proficiency.
MC 067 June 12th was recorded as the disappearance of Gen on his home world. Search efforts were futile and he was marked as AWOL. Unknown to others, Gen was preparing to strike down the culprits at the annual conference taking place at Ground Forces Central, all of them who were to be conveniently gathered like lamp to the slaughter for him.
MC 067 September 12th marked a terrible day in the history of Mid Childa. Gen Ealin had slipped past security personnel to arrive at the conference nearly unopposed, save for the few measly ground force grunts, as he literally crushed them like insects. Gen stormed into the conference room, going straight for the culprits, gutting them with Eve at full power. Those inside could only bear witness as Gen slaughtered 6 high-ranking officials, helpless as devices were forbidden within GFC. His revenge wrought, Gen sought his escape, leaving a trail of bloody bodies in his wake. Gen then escaped off world quickly with a preset dimensional teleport spell.
Navy Enforcers sent out to track and apprehend Gen were either killed or heavily injured in their attempts to pursue and capture him. By the 3rd month of his escape, the pursuers had completely lost trace of the Black Fist, as they took to calling him because of the pure black color of his device Eva, which he uses to take out many of his pursuers.
Over the years, Gen has been spotted on many planets. Their target proved to be adept at evading them or quickly escaped even when he was cornered. As of the current date, his whereabouts and motives remain unknown.
Personality/Behavior
Brusque to the point of being rude, Gen was a person who others kept at arm’s length. He spoke little and when he did, it was either to respond to orders or to insult the random person who drew his ire. His cold and unchanging demeanor unnerved many of his peers who resorted to outcast him from any events. This was fine by him, as Gen viewed many of them to be naïve and believed human relationships to be fragile matters, preferring to hone his skills instead of wasting time in the company of others. When not in missions or training, Gen was often by his lonesome reading a book or off to the vast mountain regions of Mid Childa to take in the natural scenery. Other than that, his only other notable interests are in philosophy and music.
Gen maintained his uncaring attitude throughout his adult life and into his work life as an
Enforcer. After returning from the Book of Darkness incident of MC 054, he became visibly more irritable and displayed a growing aggressive streak both in and out of combat.
Likes: Silence, rain, nature, to be alone, crossing his hands in front of him to cover his mouth when sitting down
Dislikes: Noise, crowds, for someone to call his name, idealistic people
Fighting Style
Suffering in range and reach when engaging in close combat compared to other combatants favoring weapons such as swords and spears, Gen’s prefers fast and hard-hitting single strikes rather than agile blows. Being a experienced user of the Mid system before he switched over to Neo-Belka, he is able to fight on par with mages in aerial combat or range engagements. He is still much suited for fighting in enclosed spaces and urban environments though.
Barrier Jacket
Orange-tinted glasses. A black round-collared long sleeved jacket with gold highlights on the sleeves, shoulders and linings reaching all the way to the back of is knees. A black sleeveless vest covers his body. A belt containing 24 cartridges. Loose black pants that go all the way into his combat boots complete the set.
Intelligent Device: Avatar
The device was fashioned after the golden cross on the infamous Book of Darkness. Interrogating the mage under torture and death threats, he managed to get the vital information he wanted. The device was created to replicate the Book of Darkness impressive abilities, which encompassed the ability to capture Linker Cores to fill its pages, the Guardian Knight System, the Defense Program and of course its ability to reincarnate for all eternity.
The current master was skilled in device creations besides being a powerful mage; he had tried to replicate the Book but failed due to the standards of current technology and the immense complexity of the Ancient Belkan magic and technology which was applied to the creation of the Book. Still, the mage was able to recreate two aspects of the Book using Mid Childian technology and magic. First was the enormous storage capability of spells and programs and second was the function to channel and store large amounts of mana into the device.
Shortly after going back to active service, Gen had discovered the proper usage of the device he had in possession. The “Avatar”, as he had named it, serves to augment a mage’s prowess through more efficient handling and processing of spells, ensuring a more refined output. Adding to that was the ability to store more spells than any other storage or intelligent device known. Avatar also serves to regulate and control the flow of mana into Eva when Gen is using more demanding spells such as Bloody Blades, Alkeid Buster.
The unique aspect of Avatar would be the method it acquires and process mana. Normal devices would channel mana from the mage and supply it to form the spell desired. Avatar could absorb and store residual mana from its surroundings into its chambers, albeit at a rate slow enough to discount this property in combat. Gen instead channels his own mana into Avatar for storage, providing a larger reserve possible. This lengthens the magical stamina of Gen in combat quite a fair bit, since he mostly sticks to melee spells, which are less demanding compared to the battery and buster spells common among Mid-mages and also acts as an external storage device of mana, similar to the Card system, which the user inputs mana into a card-shaped device with a pre-programmed spell but available only as one time usage.
Avatar's mana chambers has a finite capacity but Gen has to be careful to abstain from combat on days when he is using Avatar to store mana since the process of channeling mana from the Linker Core into a device drains him substantially, ranging from mild side effects of headaches to more serious signs of fatigue. Also possible is the dangerous effect of "burn out", the permanent condition where the Linker Core is damaged by drawing out mana more than it is safe to do so, so much so the Linker Core is rendered unable to produce mana for usage anymore.
Gen had the misfortune to have a taste of it, after being confronted by 6 Enforcers, shortly after storing mana into Avatar. The ensuing fight had taken all he had to finish them off and escape. He spent the next few days in tremendous pain, unable to draw on any more mana from his Linker Core, for fear of the massive feedback into his system.
Gen now is careful to secure a location where he can hide when he wants to store mana into Avatar, often resting for a full day when he does so.
Storage form
Avatar takes the form of a card with the exact golden cross of the Book of Darkness on its front. The rest of the card is a pitch black.
Device form
Takes the form of a black visor with golden framings
Armed Device: Eve
Eve was created while Gen was still within the TSAB as a Striker. Gen created Eve to take the form of gauntlets, with sharp claw-like edges on the end of each finger and a sharp length of metal reaching all the way to the elbow. Fitted with cartridge slots on each gauntlet, Gen uses Eve to great effect when in melee combat, crushing opponents’ defenses to quickly beat them into submission. Eve is also able to extend its reach on command. A nasty surprise that has caught many unprepared before.
Eve, being an Armed Device, is unable to channel the energy needed to form massive bombardment or buster spells as compared to her Storage or Intelligent devices counterparts. Gen’s options at mid to long range are severely limited by this but he makes up by programming new spells that enable him to shorten the distance quickly and punish with a enhanced Eve or at least to bring his short range spells available to him. Each gauntlet can store up to 4 cartridges at once.
Storage Form
Black gloves with a single diamond on the back of the glove
Device Form
Eve sets up as a pair of clawed armor gauntlets, covering from fingers all the way to the elbow, also known as Gauntlet Form. Eva's core takes the form of a red diamond inset to the back of each hand
Blade Form
Eva now sports triple retractable blades from the wrist, each blade nearly half a meter in length. Requires one cartridge to change to this form.
Claw Form
Eve's Full Drive. Requires two cartridges to change into this form. Eve is significantly bulked up here and has heavy armoring all the way to the shoulders, ending in a fin-like exhaust point on each side. The finger parts are now longer and end in sharp blade-like claws with a charging element in the center of each palm.
Ability: Blocker
Blocker is activated when Eve is successful in using a barrier or shield spell to block an attack, be it a melee attack or range spell. The energy that is used to form the protection spell is instantly absorbed back into Eva and is used to boost Eva’s power for the next attack or spell and to a very slight extent, Gen’s movement speed for the next 5 seconds.
Spoiler for Spells:
Movement
Sonic Move
Increases the user’s speed dramatically (but only temporarily) to the point where it cannot be followed by the human eye.
