Background/History
Trained, and raised from young in a Prize training facility, Jec knows nothing about her past. Her family was murdered, by Prize recruiters scouring for potential mage candidates. Being the only one in her household to have the distinction of having a strong linker core, she was spared from death while the parents and two brothers that she never knew, did not.
Growing up in a organization one such as the Prize had been brutal for the frail girl but nevertheless Jec endured under the even hand and guidance of Jac, the man who would continued to watch over her growth to the current day.
Jec received special treatment from young, due to her remarkable ability in controlling and shaping the energy. Given an intelligent device after her apparent ease in utilizing magic, the distinction was great as the standard operative within the Prize made do with armed or storage devices. Given the rarity and difficulty of constructing a delicate piece of equipment as an ID, it was clear that Jec was strongly favored, even for one such as her.
The underlying reason was the huge magical potential Jec carried, and her natural ability to use it effectively. To monitor her growth and condition, the scientists chose the perfect equipment for such a need, an intelligent device.
Taught and trained in the skills of being a Prize operative by Jac, the man was also a guardian of sorts to the young girl, having watched her longer than anyone else. The former remains as distanced to Jec as any person who has regular contact with him, however. Fortunately, Jec found a confiding person in Jas after the formation of the Jacks.
Ironically, Jec is treated as the ‘younger sister figure’ in the Jacks from being the youngest in the group. Not so much from Jac of course. Concern for her well-being stands strong, as well as all of the related behavior attached. A good example would be the last time Jec got injured badly in the field. The one responsible was identified and hunted down with extreme prejudice by the rest of the team in short order, Jac included. There wasn’t enough of him left to bury afterwards.
Personality/Behavior
Perceived as a cold and quiet person, the misconception resulted from the lack of contact with other people. Jac wasn’t of much help, in part only looking after her physical welfare and ignoring her mental growth. Luckily Jec is still quite open to people, albeit slow to warm up, and a need to learn tact in her words.
Admittedly, Jec does carry a cold mask around most of the time. That being a result of her experiences in the Prize. As for being quiet, if she’s not saying anything, it’s only because she’s thinking hard about the subject posed to her rather than unwilling to response. In reality Jec is strongly curious and naïve , even if a tad cynical in thinking . Making for a rather bad combination of traits, even if fortunate in someway.
An untold reason is present of course. Jec took her first life when she was ten, inevitably altering her from then on. Though her spirit dulled, she endured that particular trial.
Ingrained from young, Jec is highly obedient to authority, appearing as overly stiff and serious to those who have worked with her. Luckily, this is balanced out by her natural flexibility to work around the given parameters and accommodate her should it work out unfavorably.
Of course that does not make her an absolute puppet. She will carry out her duty, and orders to whatever extent is needed to achieve success in a cold manner, Jec has her share of issues with what she does, questioning and debating at length with herself frequently.
With regards to her teammates, Jec looks up to Jac as the guardian figure in her life, even if he did ignore aspects of his duty. Jec understands well his reasons and is thankful, if only for his efforts.
With Jec being the ‘younger sister’, Jag and Jas acts as her older siblings. Both take the extra effort to shelter her from the reality of a world that she has only begun realizing, the two having experienced well the pains possible. Jag does it the way he knows best, eliminating possible dangers before they become so. Jas handles the internal aspects on the other hand, dispelling doubts and answering any questions Jec might have.
The girl’s first memory of the outside world was a nighttime training exercise out in the desert world the facility was based on. Upon reaching the surface, the first thing Jec saw was the massive moon of the planet. Mesmerized by the natural satellite and basically the nighttime environment, she would have continued being utterly absorbed by the experience of her first time to the surface, if not for the more urgent matter at hand.
Several hours later had her trudging under the burning sun to reach a far-out designated location, which left her dehydrated to the point of collapse. This pretty much left her in admiration of moons and nighttime while very much detesting daylight.
Barrier Jacket
A full body black leather-like suit covering from neck to feet and to wrists. The obligatory combat boots of course, and a purple ribbon to secure her hair into a ponytail. The form-fitting jacket attracts unwanted attention from the male population of the Prize, even diverting attention from the more well-endowed Jas, much to her chagrin. The suit has no effect on Jac though both girls have caught Jag with his gaze lingering on Jec in her suit a tad too long sometimes.
Fighting Style
Taking after her guardian’s trait of odd complements, Jec is a user of the Neo-Belkan system while employing the use of an intelligent device. While proficient in the use of Nighthawk, her first device she used as a weapon, it is now relegated to a secondary purpose after the addition of Mercurius as her main device.
Jec hangs back in combat to provide defensive support, leaving the fighting to her much more capable teammates while maximizing the defensive potential of Mercurius to assist her team and impede the opposition.
When it comes down to it, Jec is able to hold her own against much stronger fighters and easily subdue the rest, as demonstrated by her sparring sessions against her team and the average Prize trooper. No mean feat considering that she is at best A+ in actual combat rank.
Intelligent Device: Mercurius
Mercurius is essentially an add-on combat frame to the actual intelligent device Jec uses. The device components materializes as twelve small, disc-shaped storage devices, equally distributed and carried on the sides of Jec’s forearms and waist of her suit. The device core is located on the back of her right hand, an extension from the carrier portion of the discs.
Mercurius was designed in mind to complement Jec’s incredible skill in remotely controlling multiple objects at the same time to effective standards and so features the unique usage of twelve storage devices to aid her in spell-casting.
The discs are able to operate independently or in groups once active and serve as multi-purpose tools in this state. The discs are fairly fast and quite durable, being able to withstand a good amount of punishment. However anyone with a decent aim or able to catch them in a bombardment/AoE/Buster spell can easily damage or take them out easily.
Jec is able to employ her device to great defensive capability, if only because of device limitations hampering her from using
Mercurius offensively.
Armed Device: Nighthawk
With the necessity of being prepared in mind, Jec kept
Nighthawk as a secondary device after receiving
Mercurius. Equipped with the standard cartridge system slightly below the head,
Nighthawk is a short hafted spear with a V-shaped head to dislodge opposing weapons, and an extendable hidden dagger link from behind.
