France and England are probably the best example of a traditional rivalry that is continued in the comic. Since Romania has no character representation, there hasn't been a chance for any rivalry to be focused upon. So far, Hungary has been the most antagonistic to Prussia and France, who keep daring to molest her precious Austria. (

Since the time period isn't just related to WW2, the countries do mix to some degree. For example, Japan and America often spend time together--whether Japan likes it or not.
