That leaves me very confused because if thats the case then a lot of the questions we've posed/dismissed as "to be answered" will not be answered, and a lot of those questions were fairly pivotal.
Do we just assume that the real world is screwed now and that evil-shota is going to kill everyone left? If that's the case then this really was an End of Eva ending, just with the EVA-01 replaced by a planet full of people. Without any season to follow, the ending of S2 just isn't very conclusive for an ending of a whole story.
