It's questionable how "back to normal" Sledge got. I mean, he titled the last chapter of his second book about his wartime experiences"I am not the man I would have been".

That wasn't particularly unusual though. According to "With the Old Breed", Sledge saw lots of the Marines doing that. It can't be stressed enough how much the Marines grew to hate the Japanese with very personal zeal. Even Sledge who was a very mellow fellow at first got consumed by this, and he never really forgave or felt sorry for any of the Imperial Japanese soldiers he fought against.

Aw hell dawg, you tripping?

Well it's good to see child actors manage to break out into something else...I thought he gave a pretty good performance in this series.
