Well, if you know your christian history you'd of known what he really is before
The series is based on a manga- however the manga is a gag manga, thus giving it less of a proper overall storyline and more of oneshot story lines. Which I find to be rather enjoyable myself.
If you're looking for the manga- it hasn't been translated yet. I'm hoping with the anime coming out someone might be interested enough to translate however.
