Yuu is not the only one meeting new people, no one knew Kanji and Rised before and now all of them are friends and have created new bond yet it still is only Yuu who got new Personas'.
Just because he is plain, doesn't mean he has potential. Besides with such quiet attitude, in real life he probably would have zero friends.
Though he finally got some kind of personality in new episode.
