I don't think the story is that deep. I think her "illness" is just another writing device to get the girls together (yuri). It's just an excuse, in other words, to allow all the characters to love each other regardless of the fact that they're all girls. If you notice, there are heterosexual excuses for both Yasuna & Tomari to fall in love with girl type Hazumu.

Yasuna illness gives her the excuse to love girl type Hazumu because in reality, she loved boy type Hazumu…she just couldn’t see him. If you think about it, she’s not in love with Hazumu’s female body, but her male mind. Yasuna is, in my estimation, heterosexual and is in love with boy type Hazumu. She’s just using the girl type body to her convenience.

Now if Yasuna & Tomari get together….then the show takes a very interesting turn.

Of course, I could be wrong and they (the writers) could bring out some dark secret like child abuse, but I seriously doubt it. I think this show is more about change, loss and reclamation. I don't think there's hidden darkness as deep as child abuse.

well Catgirls ... sooner or later we need to get a answer on why she have that illness ... and i can't see what other answer there can be unless it feels ackward ... at least in my book the train would fall of the rails if there aren't an answer and it aren't logical

CaiSter21: i would recommend knkf/doremi ... but i'm slightly biased since i loved knkf's translation of Shuffle and love Doremis translation of Mai-Otome
