Maria, always a side character, never a main. Until this week, of course. This was the first time I saw her backstory, and that she had a history with Eight's inventor. I would've loved to hear the full version of her song she (partially) recorded onto that casette, but perhaps some things are better left unsaid. The second half with the date was cute, and I liked the twist that it wasn't a girl behind the events at all. It's been a pretty easy groove for this series, but the minimal, phone-ringing preview, and the title "Who Knocks at the Door?" suggests that the series is going into slightly(?) more dramatic territory for the finale. Pretty much everyone's had their history and relationships with Hayate fleshed out, so the only thing left to do is put those to the test.
