Spoiler for stuff: Well we seem to getting into some of Yato's past now and looks like he might have been quite ruthless "way back in the day" compare to who he is now. He's apparently a Warrior God much like Vaisravana. Prehaps the reason he has not had a shrine dedicated to him this whole time is because he might be a God of Death with all the all killing he's done before. On another thing unfortunate Yukine turned out to be quite the asshole, but he can't be all that bad for Yato to take him in. I guess with the appearance of Nora he has two Shinki to even playing field with Vaisravana. Frankly Yato seems to be the stronger of the two as he was able hold her off with just one Shink despite being weakened from Yukine. Vaisravana has a good deal of efficiency, but Yato's fighting skills are better.
