For a non-novel reader, the episodes themselves feel fine. Though I get the feeling (after reading replies such as yours, on numerous threads), that my opinion would shift towards "Those bastards! How could they cut THIS and THAT?!" after reading them

Refer to the second point that omimon has pointed out regarding the skipped parts.
I don't really mind though if SHAFT wants to cut excessive filler conversations and scenes but to omit that very point when Araragi having conversation with Shinobu after witnessing and guessing the real reason of the catastrophe--is really unbearable to me. It is somewhat a really important line (to me at least).
