I disagree. First, SM is a shoujo manga IIRC, so why would a shoujo manga for girls suddenly need to turn into harem LN for males just because it’s written in this era? Second, the magical girl genre is still alive and well to this day. Do you see
Pretty Cure, Nanoha, Madoka, etc need to turn themselves into harem stories to survive the market? I don't think so. So, were Sailormoon written today, it doesn't have to turn into a harem. It just needs better writing without losing the core/spirit of the story.
