Actually, the story has a sort of serious event later on.

You see the russian guy get held at gun point by a person that looks suspiciously similar to the hot neighbors boyfriend. So it does start to go into a direction of conspiracy somewhat. I'm still mostly here for the H though.

Meh, I wouldn't say that. From what I recall, That series was chock full of melodrama, and NTR vibes.

Doesn't the main girl end up basically brain washed at the end with him unable to ever have sex with her? and didn't she basically get trained as a sex slave for her Ex(?)husband? I forget, honest.

I would say this series is a lot lighter than Kono S o Mi Yo.
