I'm sure there's natto candy somewhere but umaibou isn't candy. Dagashi is more on the lines of 'cheap snacks' overall.
Umaibou is a thick corn puff with a flavor in the middle. Used to have cheese flavor all the time. (Different brand though)
I found a blog btw where someone actually tried baking it and it tasted great. Kokonotsu: Dagashi genius.
