Think the historical ones are more for everyone and all ages.
But yeah. I dont find that surprising all things considered. The girls get what they want, and the guys get a badass male lead doing badass things. So long as they dont go too wishy washy with the female lead its also probably more enjoyable to watch her POV then the male leads POV.
