I'm really glad this is getting right into the action and plot heavy-content right away. I wouldn't say I hate Illya's friends, and in fact they're fine in small doses like this - It's when they completely take over an episode that I start to find them kinda tiresome.
So I'm very pleased that we only had a little bit of SoL content to sort of ease us into this continuation before the fantastically flashy action really takes off. One area where this property consistently delivers is in its highly entertaining action scenes!
Parallel world stories are also rich with potential and intrigue, and this one is off to a good start.

I don't hate any of them either. In fact I find the ditsy martial artist and the otaku imouto of the grand master fujoshi quite funny. I just don't particularly care for any of them enough to even learn their names, and would rather the show just get on with its very good plot. This is why I didn't watch 2wei, was because it was too heavy on the SoL, which in this series generally means loli softcore porn and/or innuendo. Even in this episode, they couldn't even add original material of
their friends leaving without plugging in some loli yuri innuendo set off by a very unnatural and forced slip on the part of Illya.
