Unless All Might lied to him, it looks like Deku is special in that he can interact with the previous holders (the first one at the very least). The markings on his hand, which All Might never had, seem to support this. I wonder what kind of power up he'll get for this. It's a bit odd since he just got one recently too.
The flashback itself didn't really give us any new information, but it was nice to see events we had only been told about. Although his motives were selfish, it looks like AFO's actions might have prevented society from completely falling into chaos.
