I guess.
I was shocked because even though Mr. Matsumoto has made some anime very critical of the USA (like The Cockpit), he was NEVER disrespectful to the American characters in terms of how they looked.
To my knowledge, Mr. Nishizaki was never disrespectful either, even though both men certainly had issues with the US government and in some respects, rightfully so.
