The anime kinda implies that most of the Shadow Garden do want revenge against not just the Cult of Diabolos but also their former families and friends for abandoning them.
It's common practice to give up possessed children to the church, or dump them somewhere barren or lynch them. Going through that would damage one's psyche.
Even if Marco wasn't complicit in that, the damage had been done.
