E3 and anime conventions are two entirely different beasts.
E3 is more geared towards the press, as it's about video game news and showing off upcoming games, with most video game companies opting to use other means to provide this information.
Anime conventions, meanwhile, are geared towards the fans, and while there's not as much industry involvement when compared to the past (with me feeling that they have lost a lot of the magic that it once had in the 2000's), there's still plenty of things for attendees to do at the con.
