Had Cloud save Aerith, it might have ruined the impact the OG Final Fantasy VII not only as a game but also in the movie sequel where Cloud seeks redemption for his failure to save Aerith.

If the future couldn't be changed then what was the point in making the efforts to break fate and go against the Whispers in the first game? Why not make it a pure remaster?
