Just a suggestion before adding all these new features to change the contest why not just made a general feedback thread with a poll asking why people didn't participate. You can have categories like
*Too much effort
* Was confused how to vote
* Didn't like any series nominated
* Didn't even watch anime this year
*Other please explain in comments.
Obviously not everyone is going to give written feedback, but just voting on one of our regular polls seems easy enough, and I would also suggest creating a sticky to make it visible.
