I like to think that it's a play on words like with Tokiha Mai literally being Mai-hime in that she's sister to Takumi.

If one was to say that Fumi is the 'Queen', then Mai having a nickname of 'Mai-hime' could mean 'Dancing Princess' in that she compares to Shinso in terms of Mai-Battle? So what, I'm a Mai-shipper
