Sorry I should clarify- these days the name Haruhi isn't so commonly spoke off or brought up anymore in the LN scene. Even when the series does make a long awaited reappearance last year with it's record breaking
single volume sales- the impact didn't seem to last long and it shows at the KonoRano rankings for last year. And like I've said- it's to offset the two years of absent so in the end it just even itself out
Outside of the Light Novel scene, the lack of any project is also driving fans away. You don't have to agree with me of course, this is just my observation.
