In accordance with the written unwritten rules, I shall do my final review in verse.
To this tune
Looking out towards the horizon
And Noise is a good guy now
It's the finale!
On with the review
Mostly an epilogue
With a musical healing wave
Now it's Trio the Major
Siren and Ako leaving home
Seemingly for good
Souta might be king one day
Waon and Seika, who are they?
Ending with one last transform
Stock footage has its limits
And on the piano, Hibiki
Now, to the finale you!
(It may not fit the meter
exactly, but the written unwritten rules are pretty clear on what they want.)
So ends my first full year commenting on a Precure series. I watched Fresh, jumped in at the very end of Heartcatch, and pretty much commandeered the thread for this one. The series did get a bit long in the tooth at some points, but I like the ideas behind it. HibiKana's original dynamic was fun to watch, and Ako proved to be surprisingly watchable for a little girl heroine. This was really her story, about her family.
That everyone was able to saved, creating a win-win situation, speaks well for humanity. Sure, Ellen will never be a cat again, but now she can
do Ouji and it will only feel somewhat less creepy learn to explore the human world and make more friends.
When this show started,
Madoka was in its infancy (the head-biting stage), and magical girls were looking very unorthodox. When this show ended, Symphogear was live, which is... pretty much the same thing. It just shares a lot of names and terminology, making things easier for me.
It had its faults, but as far as I'm concerned, the good points triumph. Now, Smile starts next week, and of course I'll be watching. For better or worse, I'm in this franchise for some time to come.
It's been fun!
