So Aki was pretty much always arrogant, but he liked that teacher and he wasn't the only one, Kyohei was the same ^^
Growing up in that village was pretty hard for all. I feel sorry for that teacher, that village was just the wrong place for her. No wonder Aki snapped... and Kyohei left.
