Hand washing is hard and takes a long time... you hand wash all your clothes? I have too much clothes and too little sanity to hand wash all of my stuff

I think at least some Japanese use washing machine, but dry on the clothesline (unless it's raining then they'll use a backup drying machine). That's really smart because air drying prevents clothes shrinkage. At least that's what I've seen, but I haven't gone into every Japanese house.

In America we don't hand wash. We all use washing machines. Even poor people just go to these stores we have dedicated to washing machines. Nobody hand washes, except the rich who want to pay somebody to do it.

We also dry clean but only for important clothes, like suits and fancy dresses.
